We all have our own creative vision. Sometimes we share it with others, sometimes we keep it to ourselves. However, when it comes to business, ideas should be shared with those involved in the business so that those ideas can be combined and turned into new creations, right? That being said, that’s not the point. The point is to combine ideas so that we can create solutions for every creation we make. When we are talking about design in business, we should know that there are types of designs in a business. Those are product design, packaging design, business card design, branding design and even web design. Yes, web design is one of the most important parts of a business strategy. With the rise of technology, business owners have improved their marketing strategy tailored to the trends and the needs of their target audience. For that reason, many businesses now use a website as a way to grow their business and increase their brand awareness. If you have a business, creating and building a website should be one of your top priorities. With a website, you can help your target audience find what they are looking for in your business and of course at the same time it helps you gain more customers. However, creating a website is not something to be underestimated. You might hire a web designer anywhere but the problem is; they may not be the one you are looking for. Why? That’s because designing a website is not just some random decision and choice. In fact, it needs a great deal of consideration to make a website. Oftentimes problems come from designing the website because people forget what it means to have a good website and what kind of a good website is a good website. Don’t worry; I will help you with that! In this article, I’m going to share with you about the signs your web designer knows nothing about a website…or doesn’t care at all! Why should you know this? That’s because this will help you find the right one! Keep reading to find out!
Your web designer doesn’t know (or doesn’t care) about SEO
Search engine optimisation, or SEO in short is a method of obtaining good rank in search engines by optimising a website in order to be found online by the target audience. Some people think SEO has nothing to do with web design – wrong! In fact, web design is nothing without SEO. There are many aspects of web design that can affect how SEO works. For example, if you put too many large images and too much content on your website without optimisation or if your website is not responsive and has complicated navigation, your website visitors will leave your website immediately and when search engines notice this behaviour, they will then re-evaluate your website. If your website is not doing good; then you can be deindexed or worse, penalised. When that happens, you will lose your good reputation and it will soon damage your business performance. Many web designers know about this and they do their best to design a good website that is both good looking and beneficial or in search engine’s favour. However, some web designers don’t care about that. They are either too focused on designing unique and quite good looking website or they just want to get it done fast.
Your web designer thinks SEO doesn’t matter
This point actually reminds me of an acquaintance of mine who was so boastful when she just got a Guess bag, but dissed people who got Prada or Gucci bag by saying how low the quality of Prada and Gucci bag was. However, the truth is; she just can’t afford buying Prada or Gucci so she starts dissing those brands, saying how awful they are (just because she can’t buy it). The same thing can be said to those who know nothing about SEO so they end up saying how useless SEO is for business. One thing I hate from those who don’t know SEO; they give excuses about not liking SEO and that SEO doesn’t matter while the truth is; they just don’t know the first thing about SEO.
It is what it is
Well, I’m not saying that all web designers have to know all about SEO. We all have our own knowledge on our own field of study. However, good designers somehow balance their knowledge of design with their knowledge of the requirements of the search engines and that’s the kind of web designer you should hire. There are also web designers and web design firms who know their limit and what they don’t know and partner with SEO firms to make sure their finished product is awesome and SEO friendly. That kind of web designer is priceless. Make sure you hire the right one.
