Examples of Intellecta applications

These applications will introduce the use of many Intellecta icons, both from the input and output group and the process group.

The examples will cover science and technology applications.

Switch Example 1

Requirement : Turn on a light with a switch. Have another light flashing to indicate the system is ready for a switch input.

Solution. Place switch and link to light icon. Place a second light and link to generator icon. This icon generates or creates a repetitive ON-OFF value. The property box of the generator shows the rate of flashing.

The property can be set to generate an

  • ON-OFF value
  • ON-REVERSE-ON value ( ideal for motors)
  • Short ON, then OFF pulse ( brief flash)

The  Generator icon generates ON-OFF or  Reverse values/

The user can set the ON time and the rate of repetition through the Period entry.

Note that help can be obtained by selecting the ?Help button on the lower left area of the property box

Switch Example 2

Requirement : Turn on a light with a switch. Have two lights flashing in an alternate manner.

Solution. Place switch and link to light icon. Place two extra lights and link to generator.

Here the property of the alternate flash lights must be set such that it illuminates when the input is OFF. This means the two lights flash out of sequence.

The following FLASH movie shows the output. Click on the start button to play the movie or click on the large triangle on the play bar.

You can see that the two lights, light1 and light2 flash alternately, whereas Light illuminates when the switch is pressed.

Switch Example 3

Requirement : Turn on a light when two switches are pressed together. Have two lights flashing in an alternate manner to tell the user that the system is running.

Solution. Place 2 switch and link to light icon through a LOGIC gate.

Select the AND gate in the logic gate property box.

Switch Example 4

Requirement : Control the direction of a motor with a switch. Make the motor go forward when the switch is pressed and go into reverse when the switch is OFF. Use two lights to show the direction. Also sound an alarm when the motor is in reverse.
