Task 8

This task defines a more practical buggy challenge. The buggy moves forward until both switches are pressed, the buggy motors stop, the buggy moves backwards and then turns left. The cycle is repeated.

Obviously this is a task for the worksheets. Place the worksheets on the workbook and set up the re-start options similar to Task 7.

Worksheets are an ideal component for top-down design strategies. The students can broadly define the various steps in the control of the system. This planning phase if very important and critical and follows industrial strength tools such as UML modelling, use case analysis.




		Workings of the Run Forward worksheet Motor 1 and Motor 2 are controlled with the Set-point icons that generate an ON and REVERSE value. The sheet runs for a long time in this mode. Switch 1 and Switch 2 are connected to an AND gate and the SheetStop icon will stop the sheet when it received an ON value. This can occur when the both switch 1 and switch 2 are pressed.

Run forward worksheet

This task sets up the motion of the two motors in the forward and reverse directions. This independent sheet is set to run for a long time inside its property.

Worksheet property

The sheet is stopped when both switches are pressed and initiate the SheetStop icon. This has also been set to activate on an ON input.

Obviously this is a task for the worksheets. Place the worksheets on the workbook and set up the re-start options similar to Task 7.

Turn Off motors worksheet

This task turns off both motors with the Set-point icon set to zero. Light 2 comes on to give the user some idea of the actual stage in the strategy.

It is always useful to set up some defined visible clue on the status of the buggy.

Turn Left and Backout

This worksheet is the same as the Run Forward wards worksheet but the motor directions are changed and the switches, logic gate are removed
